Dr Basia (Barbara) Lowes is a highly trained and experienced obstetrician, gynaecologist, and advanced laparoscopic surgeon based in Sydney, providing evidence-based, holistic, and individualised care to women at all stages of life.
With extensive expertise in minimally invasive and keyhole surgery, she is dedicated to providing exceptional care for women facing gynaecological conditions such as abnormal bleeding, endometriosis, fibroids, fertility issues, pelvic pain, and menopause. Her approach combines precision, innovation, and empathy to ensure the best possible outcomes for her patients. Dr Lowes is one of the few female advanced gynaecological surgeons on the North Shore of Sydney.
Dr Basia Lowes is accredited by the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery (AGES) Society at the highest level of surgical training in her field—an accreditation only granted to select gynaecological surgeons in Australia. This accreditation allows her to perform AGES level 5 and 6 surgical procedures, including complex endometriosis excision and laparoscopic hysterectomy. She has also completed a prestigious Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic and Gynaecological Surgery at the Sydney West Advanced Pelvic Surgery Unit. Her expertise in minimally invasive techniques enables her to offer cutting-edge surgical solutions for gynaecology issues that promote faster recovery, reduced pain, and improved long-term outcomes.

She holds a Master's of Advanced Gynaecological Surgery (with Distinction) from the University of Western Sydney and a Master's of Women’s Health Medicine (with Excellence) from the University of New South Wales. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG), highlighting her commitment to the highest standards of gynaecological, pregnancy, and surgical care.
Dr Lowes is an active member of the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy & Surgery Society and is a representative on various professional committees. She presents regularly at conferences and meetings and has published in academic journals on various obstetrics and gynaecology topics. She is passionate about supporting education and is involved in teaching through RANZCOG, AGES, the University of Western Sydney, and the University of NSW.
